Su Qi
Su Qi has extensive criminal defense experience, involving a variety of criminal offenses including murder, major sex crimes, large-scale drug cases, white collar crime, proceeds of crime, fraud, money laundering, robbery and assault. Additionally, she has extensive experience researching legal issues and drafting and arguing complex motions to suppress, dismiss and quash. When helping clients prepare for trial, she identifies key objectives of case strategy and gathers information from witnesses and key experts that supports the client's position.
Prior to joining the defense bar, Su Qi gained extensive experience in the criminal law industry, including clerking in the District Court of South Australia, working at the Intermediate People's Court in Shanghai, China, as a volunteer lawyer at Hongfen Legal Center, and in New South Wales Criminal defense attorneys at some of the state's leading criminal law firms.
Su Qi also has extensive experience in corporate and commercial matters in both civil and criminal jurisdictions. Recently, Su Qi represented a client in a money laundering case in the Supreme Court of New South Wales. The Australian Federal Police launched proceedings against her client, seeking to freeze the cash and order forfeiture to the federal government. Su Qi's successful application to exclude cash from the restraining order.
