Marcus Ellis

Before joining the defense bar, Marcus Ellis was employed by the Common Law Division of the Supreme Court of New South Wales, where he assisted judges in preparing judgments. 


He has been involved in a series of complex murder trials, sentencing hearings, bail applications and appeals to the Court of Criminal Appeal. 


He has also previously worked as a solicitor in the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, handling a variety of cases including robbery, assault and sexual assault. 


He graduated from Macquarie University with a Bachelor of Laws (Honours), majoring in Criminology. 


During his legal studies he worked with the Aboriginal Legal Service and the Public Defender's Office, helping people from various communities charged with serious criminal offences.
